OpenSS13

After much discussion regarding the future of OpenSS13 development, a couple've conclusions have been made.

SS13 will be developed by a group of people, and will gradually port the code to a more OpenSource, modular layout. This means that we will focus on developing SS13 the game, but will also make efforts to reorganise the entire code structure to something much more OpenSource-friendly. This will allow mods to be created more easily.

The OpenSS13 project will be making use of SVN(Subversion) software. It is a common tool in OpenSource projects, as it enables easy organisation of multiple versions of the same product. More info here.

The OpenSS13 SVN will be viewable by anyone, and modifiable by anyone with an OpenSS13 SVN account. That list (at present) is as follows:

Anyone else wishing to gain SVN commit access (ability to make a change to the SVN) should apply in the relevant developer topic board.

Rockdtben will be managing the bugtracker and Zjm7891 will be manage the SVN.
Deathguard and Icepacks will be helping out with iconing.

This post will be updated as more details become available.

Space Station 13 hub information.

As you all know, the hub has been passworded.  This has nothing to do with OpenSS13, and it was a mistake.

We initially contacted Exadv1 to get the hub passworded so that we can keep it closed to the new updates.  The problem there was a BYOND hub bug that would allow you to set a hub password, but it didn't go into effect.  Tom fixed the bug, and forced all hubs with an authentication set in the past 90 days to take effect.  This is why the delay was so long.

The password will be removed as soon as possible, but until then, feel free to use the hub password (below) and put your custom servers back on the hub.

New Site

Just a little note, the new site has been made live.

Much kudos to Mosheninkov, who created the site template and stylesheets.

Beyond the nice look, I have to confess the new site doesn't do alot. UHRS had to be removed, due to complications brought about by BYOND recent site change. It's by no means impossible to get UHRS working, it's just the effort outstrips the benefit (at the moment). The Quotes Database hasn't made a return, mostly due to a lack of particularly nice software for the job (the last software is no longer available). The Wiki is of course installed, please use it (you did ask for it, after all).

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to the Space Station 13 forums.

If you're new there a few posts you should check out. First you should check out the The Official Forum Rules. There probably isn't anything there you won't find standard on most forums. There are also some rules near the bottom of the page....

After you check out the rules you should head to The "Hi, I'm new" thread to introduce yourself. Later you can check out Yourself. if you feel like telling everyone a little more about yourself.

When you're done there you should check out General Discussion to talk about anything SS13 related or Off Topic for anything else. Finally if you want to spam you should visit the Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster.
